The Cherokee County School District’s School Nutrition program has earned state recognition for its outstanding use of Georgia grown fresh food!
The school district was one of only 10 school systems statewide celebrated by Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper at his office’s recent Georgia Ag Week event.
Tina Farmer, CCSD executive director of School Nutrition and procurement services and CCSD Culinary Specialist Jessica Emmett, who oversees the school district’s farm to school initiative, attended the special event. It included lunch and a cooking demonstration by 2025 Georgia Grown Chef Carlos Granderson of Southern National restaurant using Georgia grown items.
Congratulations to CCSD School Nutrition and thank you to our School Board for its continued investment in providing healthy and nutritious meals for students, with no price increase for students in more than four years!
