The Cherokee County School District’s School Nutrition program is featured in a statewide culinary video series to showcase its innovative recipes!

CCSD School Nutrition Culinary Specialist Jessica Emmett is the focus of this month’s Georgia Department of Education’s Culinary Connections video broadcast that is shared with all school districts statewide.

“What Jessica is doing in Cherokee with global flavors and entrees is so impressive,” said Georgia DOE Culinary Specialist Rachel Petraglia, who hosted the broadcast.  “Her work in school nutrition and ability to communicate her knowledge will have a lasting impact on districts across the state.”

The video, which shows “Chef Jessica” preparing recipes served in CCSD cafeterias, can be viewed online at https://youtu.be/0klEWwywVJA.

Ms. Emmett publishes a monthly newsletter on the CCSD School Nutrition website that includes many of the recipes she develops for CCSD cafeteria kitchens.  The current newsletter, as well as past issues, are posted online at https://schoolnutrition.cherokeek12.net/nutrition-news-recipes.

“Congratulations to Jessica and our School Nutrition team for this well earned recognition,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “Our award-winning School Nutrition team prepares more than five million meals a year for our students and continuously raises its standards for fresh ingredients, student-tested recipes and meal nutrition.  Thank you for all you do to ensure our students enjoy delicious healthy meals every day.”
