This message is to update you on our response to forecasts for significant weather.  The forecast for tomorrow has increased in severity, intensifying to warning level. There is an increased likelihood for roadway and utility impact, strong winds, and potential flooding. Based on these new forecasts, we are cancelling all indoor activities scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, in addition to the previously announced cancellation of outdoor activities. 

We’re growing teacher leaders!  More than 350 CCSD teacher leaders are participating in this school year’s Cherokee Instructional Leadership Collaborative program. The successful program began last school year with its inaugural class and recently kicked off learning for a second school year. 

Next week, we are hosting our Elementary School Conference Days from Tuesday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 16. These conferences, developed in response to parent and teacher feedback, are an opportunity for elementary school parents to partner with their child’s teacher to review academic progress and areas for support.  Please review the following important scheduling and transportation reminders.

Today is National Instructional Coaches Day! We appreciate our team members who serve in this role including our academic facilitators, instructional lead strategists, and literacy coaches! They provide our teachers with support to improve classroom instruction, use new instructional resources, understand data, and much more.

It’s National School Custodian Day!  Please join us in thanking our amazing school custodians for all they do to keep our schools safe and clean for our students, teachers and staff, volunteers, and visitors.  They help set the conditions for student success!  

Congratulations to the school and division winners for our ninth annual Support Staff Employees of the Year Awards!  Award winners are selected by their school or division colleagues, and everyone who works in a support role is eligible for the honor -- from school nurses to front office staff to paraprofessionals to cafeteria staff and many, many more people critical to our successful operations.
